WORTHWHILE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING - A greenEST Christmas

It's taken a long time for us to do all of the damage that has been done to our home (earth)
and to deplete and pollute the natural resources that were gifts to us. It may be too late to save our earth for future generations, but that has nothing to do with doing the right thing. Doing the right thing means doing what is the best for all involved, with the emphasis on the big picture, our home,...because it's the right thing to do, not just if we get a certain outcome.

This year our family is going to create the greenEST Christmas possible.  Gifts can be anything except new.  No products new, but made with recycled products....only second hand, gently used, pre-loved, antique, salvaged, (I would add re-purposed, but since purpose isn't a verb, I'm not gonna),....  Gifts can be services (massages etc.), experiences (concerts, events), found objects (sea shells,), edibles or home-grown living garden gifts.

The gifts can be something we create from second hand things or just an item bought from a consignment store, garage sale, antique store, side of the road or found at home.  Gifts just have to be already existing.  Regifting works too.  I can't wait to see the creative gifts we all come up with as well as the creative wrappings we scrounge up (forgot to mention that to the fam!).

This is just one small way we can help comfort our damaged earth, make the lightest, smallest footprint and enjoy a Christmas as part of the solution instead of adding to the problem.

Some traditions, while heartfelt, aren't really all that warm and fuzzy when we take into consideration the cost to the earth and it's resources.  There are so many much more worthwhile things that our money can buy, like clean drinking water for people who have none and food for starving humans all over the world.

Now, THAT's what I call WORTHWHILE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING.  HOW MERRY!!!

TGIS

hey guys...
i love SUNDAYS.....lots of reasons i suppose:
1.  it's my day OFF (from that ..j.o.b.. thing)
2.  Sunday Morning is on TV
3.  sunday just always has the best vibe of the days of the week for me.
4.  it's a YELLOW day (in my personal Synesthesia), the word is like this:

S  U  N  D  A  Y

so (in synesthete speak) the color of the entire word is normally (to me) the combination of the colors of the letters.......it appears (to me) that the yellow letters in the word Sunday must be dominant, cuz ......to me.....SUNDAY is yellow!

5.  it's the day i feel most FREE.....regardless of what is going on in the world or my little corner of it.....
anyway.....i like sunday.
lots of people attend churches and mosques and temples and other places of worship.  that probably makes sunday special to them.
others consider sunday a day of sports watching on tv.....
or maybe the one day they go on walks or hikes....
or...  there's always SUNDAY DINNER.
even though my kids tend to prefer mondays for fam get-togethers, i STILL LOVE TO CREATE SUNDAY DINNER!

hmmmm, it's 7:38 am,, i better start thinking about what i wanna cook today......

SUNDAY.

MAKE IT FUN..........MAKE IT GREEN.......MAKE IT BEAUTIFUL    (i'm gonna)

.....speaking of chaos

hmmmmmmm………approximately 2 hours spent just now…..adding Twine, configuring, adding my screen names to Twine for all the sites they list that I belong to…..

i like having all that info in one place, on one page, but not sure what Twine is for? or if any of it is relevant (to me? to what? to where?)….one more example of….(what we will refer to as multitasking, since I’ve also been listening to ipod, selecting artists, tunes, playlists ….OMG, no WONDER it’s called MULTItasking….all this while cleaning the litter box -one kitty won’t use it unless clean, and finds other places! – , as i make coffee, refill coffee, take robe off then on then off as coffee warms me, then air coming in window cools me, while simultaneously rockin’ out to van morrison, marc broussard, then calming down to teddy pendergast, al green) as i THINK that these early precious waking hours i’ve spent BLOGGING……

what’s wrong with this picture? maybe tomorrow, i’ll try to BLOG first, with minimal MULTITASKING (coffee, robe, cool nite air, but not good to skip the litter box program especially first thing in am..and i should check email first, and Twine……..jeesuzzzz) 8:30:00 AM by Susieland Delete

Smiled Upon by Chaos

hi everyone,

i’ve just defined my intention: to blog about my particular brand of chaos……this is my first post!!
i’m susie and often use the tagline, “Smiled Upon by Chaos” which i love, and it also describes my state of affairs at any given time……and that includes blogging.

i posted the following just now on a blogging community i just joined (blog out loud)…..and, well, i AM the ULTIMATE QUEEN OF GETTING SIDETRACKED, WANDERING OFF…., RAMBLING… …(these days, we refer to it as MULTITASKING …HA!)

so, ………………..maybe that’s my calling: ENJOYING AND SHARING this GIFT: focusing (well, you know…) talking ’bout green interior design, french, writing, successes (overcoming stuff..), cooking (thought i’d throw that in..),

always: Smiled Upon by Chaos

some days: surfin’ for the sake of surfin’, bloggin’ for the sake of bloggin’, typing for the sake of typing, connecting for the sake of connecting, communicating for the sake of communicating, sharing for the sake of sharing……

un-focus so you can re-focus
